Cowboys CB Mike Jenkins walked off the field and into the locker room after taking a hard hit from Jets WR Plaxico Burress in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game.

The hit occurred on a running play, when Burress cracked back and delivered a hard shot to Jenkins’ upper body, resulting in an injury to his left shoulder.

Jenkins returned to action in the fourth quarter.

Gators' Janoris Jenkins cited for pot

Now the fun begins for Will Muschamp.

Obviously, it's anything but fun, but star cornerback Janoris Jenkins' run-in with police over the weekend after being cited for marijuana possession is the first off-the-the-field incident that Muschamp will have to deal with as Florida's new coach.

One of the few criticisms of Muschamp's predecessor, Urban Meyer, was that there were too many arrests (30) on his watch as the Gators' coach.

This is Muschamp's opening to set the tone as to what he expects from his players. One of the things you heard coming out of the Florida camp when Muschamp was hired was that he would be more of a stickler in cracking down on these issues and would also be more discerning on the recruiting trail when it came to assessing a recruit's character.

What's more, this isn't the first time Jenkins has been in trouble with the law at Florida.

It will be interesting to see how hard Muschamp comes down on Jenkins, who passed up a chance to declare early for the NFL draft and elected to return for his senior season.

Mora: Fixing Cowboys starts with cutting Jenkins

NFL.com StaffPublished: November 8th, 2010 | | Tags: Brian Billick, Dallas Cowboys, Jim Mora, Mike Jenkins, The Coaches Show

Certainly, most football minds would agree the Dallas Cowboys have more issues than a mid-season change at head coach will remedy. Needless to say, every aspect of the 1-7 Cowboys and new interim coach Jason Garrett is now under the microscope.

Former NFL coach and current NFL Network analyst Jim Mora has a very strong opinion on where Garrett should start. After watching the 45-7 loss to the Packers, Mora didn’t hold back his criticism of CB Mike Jenkins for his lack of effort on this 7-yard touchdown reception by James Jones .

“To me, this is high treason,” Mora said. “An NFL football player does not turn down a play like that. And if I’m Jason Garrett, the first thing that I’m doing when I take over as the head coach of this team, is I’m getting guys like that — number 21, who absolutely committed treason, let his team down by passing up a tackle and let the ball get in the end zone — I’m taking him and I’m getting him out of my locker room.”

Mora had more to say when asked by Brian Billick about what he would do in Garrett’s shoes.

“I’d take (No.) 21 and get him out of my locker room,” Mora continued. “Guys who are not willing to lay it on the line for me and my football team, for this organization, I identify them and I either try to change them quickly, and if I don’t think I can change them, I try to get rid of them.”

At least Mora didn’t leave us guessing as to how he really felt.
