Jets Suspended Sal Alosi Indefinitely Over Forming Wall

There’s a chance that Jets strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi may not be back with the team at all, as the team has suspended him indefinitely. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the suspension comes after the team found out that he instructed players to form a wall on sidelines. Of course everyone knows what happened, as Alosi, trying to be a hero for some reason, decided to put his knee out, knocking down and hurting Dolphins gunner Nolan Carroll.

Rich Cimini of ESPN reports the following on the incident.

Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum announced the punishment after Alosi was suspended for the rest of the season and fined $25,000 on Monday.

“Over the last day as we continued our investigation we discovered some new information,” Tannenbaum said. “The players at the Miami game were instructed by Sal to stand where they were forcing the gunner in the game to run around them. Based on that new information we’ve suspended Sal indefinitely, pending further review.

Tannenbaum said that as soon as the team learned the new information, the Jets contacted NFL vice president of football operations Ray Anderson.

“They support this initial decision that we presented to them,” Tannenbaum said. “The league is going to look into this as well, as well they should. Once we get all the information we’ll make a final determination.”

Here’s a bet that Alosi never shows his face on the Jets sideline again.

Idaho DB Keo suspended for hit to head

Idaho defensive back Shiloh Keo was suspended for a half-game by the WAC on Wednesday for delivering a blow to the head on Boise State quarterback Mike Coughlin last week.

Commissioner Karl Benson originally suspended Keo for one game, but the decision was appealed by Idaho and reduced to a half-game by the WAC sportsmanship committee. Benson is required to review all hits to the head. After reviewing the play, he determined that a flagrant personal foul should have been called, which would have resulted in Keo's ejection.

The play happened at the beginning of the fourth quarter, when Keo hit Coughlin as the quarterback attempted to run for a first down during the 52-14 win.

Keo must sit out the first half at Utah State on Saturday.

As for Utah State, coach Gary Andersen dismissed linebacker Junior Keiaho from the team for an undisclosed violation of team rules, the school announced Wednesday.

Keiaho had 20 tackles in eight games while battling a knee injury throughout the season. He recorded 1.5 tackles for loss, including one sack, along with three pass break-ups and one interception.
