Three and out: Broncos’ Lloyd expected to play
Lloyd back at practice: After he was a very late scratch in Week 2, Brandon Lloyd’s groin injury has improved enough that the Broncos are confident that the veteran wideout will be available for Sunday’s game against the Titans. His return will have some effect on current waiver wire superstar Eric Decker, but with Eddie Royal expected to miss the next the next couple of weeks, Decker will still have some value. The Titans have been one of the better teams against the pass in the first two weeks, but the Broncos also represent the best passing offense they will have seen so far this season.
Spiller to get time at WR: The Bills plan to use RB C.J. Spiller to take some of the snaps that had gone to WR Roscoe Parrish, who was placed on IR earlier this week. Since RB Fred Jackson has asserted himself as the go-to running back, Spiller’s value has diminished greatly. Since he is listed as a running back in NFL.com fantasy leagues, Spiller won’t be eligible for a WR spot. He can be used as a flex player, but it’s best to leave him on the bench until he proves his worth in this new role.
Gabbert to start for Jaguars: Jacksonville coach Jack Del Rio has finally decided on a quarterback, choosing rookie Blaine Gabbert over the struggling Luke McCown for Week 3 at Carolina. The change is most likely to affect RB Maurice Jones-Drew, who will be the focus of every opposing defense. The good news for fantasy owners is that Carolina hasn’t been great against the run, giving up nice games to Beanie Wells and James Starks. MJD is a must-start in most situations, this one being no different, but take notice of Gabbert’s performance as it could affect Jones-Drew going forward.

Mathews expected back, but Tolbert still an option
The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Ryan Mathews (ankle) put in a full practice on Wednesday and appears ready to return to work for the Chargers. That means the potential for a backfield timeshare with Mike Tolbert is now staring fantasy owners right in the face.
However, I still see Tolbert as the better option, both for coach Norv Turner and in fantasy football.
He’s clearly been the team’s most productive running back, which was evident the past two weeks. With Mathews on the sidelines, Tolbert rushed for a combined 214 yards and two touchdowns. His nine rushing scores are also tied for the third-most in the NFL.
With a matchup against the Raiders and their porous run defense next on the schedule, fantasy leaguers shouldn’t be shy about using Tolbert as a No. 2 fantasy back or flex starter. Even with Mathews back, I still expect Tolbert to see more work — and all of the goal-line carries.
As for the rookie, I wouldn’t use him unless I was desperate for a flex option in a deeper league.

Palmer expected to make start for Bengals
UPDATE: Palmer is active for the game.
Carson Palmer‘s status for Thursday night’s meeting with the Jets was believed to be a game-time decision, but Bengals coach Marvin Lewis didn’t need that much time.
Lewis told NFL Network’s Kara Henderson hours before the game that the QB will start.
Palmer, who was listed as probable on the Bengals’ injury report, returned to practice Wednesday after missing the previous two days because of a foot injury he aggravated during last Sunday’s loss to the Bills. Sources close to the team told NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi on Wednesday that the injury still hadn’t healed.
But Palmer is going to give it a go.
The Bengals’ biggest injury concerns are on defense. Starting FS Chris Crocker (right knee) was placed on injured reserve, DE Antwan Odom (wrist) and SS Roy Williams (concussion) already have been declared out, and CBs Johnathan Joseph (ankle), Brandon Ghee (groin) and Rico Murray (ankle) are all questionable.
We’ll have more updates when the inactives are announced.

Woody active, expected to start for Jets
Jets starting RT Damien Woody is active and expected to start in Thursday night’s game against the Bengals.
There had been some question whether or not Woody, who didn’t practice this week and was listed as questionable, would be able to play after injuring the medial collateral ligament in his right knee last week. But Woody worked out on the field with offensive line coach Bill Callahan before the game and appears to be ready to go.
The Bengals, who already were without FS Chris Crocker (right knee), DE Antwan Odom (wrist) and SS Roy Williams (concussion), deactivated starting CB Johnathan Joseph (ankle) as well as Brandon Ghee (groin) and Rico Murray (ankle). Jonathan Wade, who was signed Monday, is expected to make the start.

Patriots’ Brady active as expected vs. Lions
Tom Brady will start in the Patriots’ Thanksgiving Day showdown with the Lions.
The quarterback missed practice Wednesday because of foot and shoulder injuries and was listed as questionable on New England’s final injury report.
Patriots RB Fred Taylor is active for the first time since injuring his toe in Week 3. He was limited in practice this week and listed as questionable on the injury report.
For the Lions, rookie RB Jahvid Best will be active. The Lions’ leading rusher (382 yards) and third-leading receiver (50 receptions) has battled turf toe injuries all season. He practiced on a limited basis for the second day in a row Wednesday and was listed as probable on the injury report.
DE Cliff Avril (quadricep), LB Isaiah Ekejiuba (knee), C Dylan Gandy (calf) and DT Corey Williams (shoulder) were all listed as questionable on the injury report but will be active.
