Kampman inactive for Jags; Ringer out for Titans

NFL.com StaffPublished: September 11th, 2011 | Tags: Aaron Kampman, Jacksonville Jaguars, Javon Ringer, Tennessee Titans, Zach Miller

Veteran DE Aaron Kampman won’t be on the field Sunday when the Jaguars open their season against the Titans.

Kampman, who had been listed as questionable, is still recovering from knee surgery he had in November. The team was cautious with his playing time during the preseason. He played about 10 snaps in last week’s finale.

Kampman was one of seven inactive players announced by the Jaguars. Also out: TE Zach Miller, who has been dealing with a knee injury.

The Titans will be without RB Javon Ringer, who had been listed as questionable with a back injury. Ringer was in line to receive carries if Tennessee takes a cautious approach with Chris Johnson, who missed much of the preseason because of a contract holdout. Rookie RB Jamie Harper could see touches in Ringer’s absence.

Clausen inactive for Panthers in opener

NFL.com StaffPublished: September 11th, 2011 | Tags: 2011 Week 1 inactives, Carolina Panthers, Jimmy Clausen

Jimmy Clausen was among six Panthers players on the inactive list ahead of Sunday’s season opener against the Cardinals.

Derek Anderson was the No. 2 QB behind Cam Newton, the No. 1 overall draft pick who was making his NFL debut. Clausen wasn’t on Carolina’s injury report, making this likely a coach’s decision on the 2010 second-round pick.

Young, Watkins inactive for Eagles

NFL.com StaffPublished: September 11th, 2011 | Tags: Philadelphia Eagles, Danny Watkins, Kyle DeVan, Mike Kafka, Vince Young

Vince Young‘s career with the Eagles begins with a stay on the inactive list.

The reserve quarterback officially was listed as out for Sunday’s season opener against the Rams as he deals with the effects of a strained hamstring.

Second-year pro Mike Kafka moves up to No. 2 on the depth chart behind starter Michael Vick.

Rookie guard Danny Watkins (knee) also is inactive, despite being listed as probable on Philadelphia’s final injury report. Watkins, the Eagles’ first-round draft pick in April, was displaced on the depth chart this week by recent arrival Kyle DeVan.

The Rams also deactivated their first-round pick, DE Robert Quinn, who wasn’t listed on the team’s final injury report.

Tuck inactive for Giants in Week 1

NFL.com StaffPublished: September 11th, 2011 | Tags: Justin Tuck, New York Giants

Justin Tuck will not be on the field for the Giants when they open their season against the Redskins.

The defensive end, who has been dealing with a lingering neck injury, traveled with the team on Saturday, leading to speculation he would play.

Sources in contact with Tuck also told NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora the pass rusher was likely to play, making the inactive designation somewhat of a surprise.

As expected, also out for the Giants is defensive end Osi Umenyiora, who is recovering from knee surgery.
