Coughlin had ‘indigestion’ watching Vick

When Eagles HC Andy Reid watches game tape of Michael Vick, one can only imagine he has his feet up on a desk and a broad smile on his face. Hitting rewind is done out of pure joy and indulgence.

Coaches for the NFL’s other 31 teams aren’t as fortunate. The concern over how to slow down the quarterback who Rod Woodson just yesterday called the most dangerous of all-time is currently most pressing for Tom Coughlin, Perry Fewell and the rest of the Giants, who face the Eagles on Sunday.

Coughlin was asked by reporters what was going through his mind as watched Vick’s epic Monday night performance.

“Let’s see, 35-0, 12 plays for Washington,” Coughlin said. “Just what everybody else was – put the pencil down and become a fan.”

He was soon challenged if he could really watch as a fan.

“No,” Coughlin admitted. ”I had indigestion, stomach ache …”

That sounds closer to the truth. Maybe Chad Ochocinco should be sending out Pepto Bismol to the future opponents of Vick, instead of his own. Might be put to better use. Just saying.

A hyped-up Fewell also faced the Vick Music while talking with reporters on Thursday, and while tossing a few superlatives Vick’s way, wasn’t as eager to discuss how he plans on doing what he intends to do.

“I’d say we have a good plan in place and I like our chances,” Fewell said.

The Giants were one of the teams analyst Brian Baldinger pegged as having the right pieces to stop Vick, and count me as very intrigued to see what Fewell brings to the field.
