The Rooster is going to get his chance in Miami. The Dolphins will be turning to Tyler Thigpen – the Coastal Carolina Chanticleer — following injuries to the hanging Chads, Pennington and Henne.
This is a move that has been a long time coming.
Thigpen has deserved a chance since his breakout season in 2008. Maybe this is romanticizing the past, but Thigpen was a pretty good fantasy option that season. It always seemed strange that he was not given a chance in a league where Derek Anderson is still a starting quarterback.
A short week of practice will prevent Thigpen from being a fantasy option this week. Looking forward, he will only be a matchup quarterback, at best, now that the bye weeks are done. But that doesn’t mean he can’t still have a fantasy impact.
Thigpen will hopefully make WR Brandon Marshall a viable fantasy option. Marshall, currently residing on ‘the list,’ has struggled fantasy enthusiasts all season. But Thigpen was able to coax decent numbers of out Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe, who had seven receiving touchdowns in 2008, his best season prior to this one.
Let’s hope he can now do the same for Marshall.
