Although Manchester United secured their first away victory of the season on Sunday against Stoke, they didn't look very convincing at all. Don't get me wrong the Britannia Stadium is an awfully hard place to go and win so in that respect it was a fantastic result. However, this has been my concern for United they have looked an average side and that is what they looked against Stoke, there wasn't anything special there.

There have been signs all season that Alex Ferguson's men have been struggling and many would put that down to the current squad not being good enough, an opinion Wayne Rooney shares following his comments about the club's ambition. United's squad isn't as good as it was two or three years ago and last season they got away with it because of Rooney's fantastic 34 goals but this year Rooney isn't playing at that level and the weaknesses in the team are so clear to see.

Ferguson has work to do and a lot of problems that he must address

Arsenal proved their title credentials today as they put three past Manchester City in what was a fine performance by Arsene Wenger's men. They carried their Champions League form into the league and blew City away albeit the home team had to play the whole match practically with 10 men.

Some will look at the fact that City had to play with 10 men to put Arsenal down but the Gunners still had to put three past arguably the best defensive team in the league. Roberto Mancini's men are amazing defensively as Chelsea found out when they found it impossible to break them down.

When teams go down to 10 men they tend to defend more and it becomes harder for the other team to score especially at 0-0 but Arsenal unlocked the City defence three times in great fashion. Arsenal's fluidity was so breathtaking that I think it would have been hard for City to cope even if they had 11 men on. In the past Arsenal have been found wanting against physically strong teams but today i

The biggest news of the day was Wayne Rooney signing a 5 year contract with Manchester United. At least the possibility of the situation turning into a long saga, something Ferguson himself wanted to avoid, has disappeared now. However, everyone will be scratching their heads and wondering what happened.

2 days ago Rooney demanded an exit but now signs a new contract. I don't understand how anyone in any profession could go from demanding an exit to signing a 5 year contract in the space of a couple of days. 5 years is no joke I tell you, that is a long contract and a real commitment that Rooney is making.

It's like a miracle this whole thing has been resolved overnight, literally. It just doesn't make sense, what has changed at United in the space of 1 day? The last ditch talks Rooney's agent had with David Gill and Alex Ferguson must have done incredibly well. They must have convinced him his future lied at United and that the team didn't lack ambition all

On Tuesday night Arsenal blitzed Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League and in the process breaking a record set by Real Madrid for most goals scored in the first three games in a Champions League campaign. However, the biggest highlight for Gunners fans wouldn't have been the record or the return of Eduardo and although the 5-1 score-line would have been very satisfying it was the return of captain Cesc Fabregas which would have been most pleasing.

Arsene Wenger's men looked a better side with Fabregas in the team and his partnership with Wilshere received many plaudits, deservingly so too. The way the two midfielders worked together was very encouraging and things will only get better for Arsenal. Not only will the two play together again and form a better partnership but Fabregas is only one in a line of many big players slowly coming back for Arsenal.

Fabregas wasn't the only comeback on Tuesday, Theo Walcott made an appearance too and he sta

The news that Wayne Rooney wants to leave Manchester United should be devastating news for their fans but it should also upset everyone who watches the Premier League. Rooney's most likely destination, if he does leave, will be overseas simply because I cannot see him playing for another Premier League team and by overseas I mean La Liga.

Why would Rooney leaving upset Premier League fans? Well it is obvious; our league will be losing one of the biggest players in the world. That will certainly take away some of the appeal of the Premier League there is no doubt about that. How would it look if England's main player isn't even playing in England? To me, that is not so good.

Of course, Rooney isn't the only player to find himself in a situation where they may leave these shores for sunny Spain. Cesc Fabregas was the main attention in the summer as he was in the middle of a tug of war between Arsenal and Barcelona. The Spanish midfielder clearly stated his desire

Yesterday Alex Ferguson appeared from the behind the shadows to give his account on the news which has dominated football in recent days. Now the man who is in the spotlight, Wayne Rooney, has come out too to give his side of the story. He has confirmed he wants to leave the club and has put the reason down to Manchester United lacking ambition.

According to the striker he has had no assurance about the direction of the club when he met with David Gill. Lack of ambition and Manchester United are two things I wouldn't expect to go hand in hand but there are things to suggest that at the moment.

Since the sale of Ronaldo, which generated over £80million, and the departure of Carlos Tevez no one of substantial quality has been brought in. The players that have come in aren't the big name players United needed to replace Ronaldo but are youngsters with potential and that is what concerns Rooney.

If things continue like this Rooney will carry all expectations of

The departure of the owners from hell would have given Liverpool fans reason to be happy but the continuing poor form shown by the team, which has placed them firmly in the relegation zone, hasn't left the fans quite as pleased.

No one has taken the full brunt of the fans' feelings than Roy Hodgson and unfairly too. He hasn't even had a fair crack at the job nor has he had ANY time to have had a sufficient impact or justification to be having his head called for, which some fans are doing.

The whole situation with Mr. Hodgson shows a lack of understanding and reason from the fans of the club. The man took charge of the club at the worst possible time and he had limited funds, my question is how many managers could have done a better job in the same situation? Only a handful in my opinion and they are way out of Liverpool's reach in their current state.

Roy Hodgson was the best manager Liverpool could have obtained it is simple as that. A club that was in

Over the course of 6 months Wayne Rooney's whole life has been turned completely upside down. 6 months ago, the Manchester United striker was in fantastic form, everything was going right for him and he was the man that was to lead the England push for the World Cup trophy. However, how things have changed so much for the talented striker.

The news that he was edging closer to an exit from Old Trafford was all over newspapers today. His personal life isn't the only that to be troubling him at the moment but it seems that his relationship with his manager isn't going too well either. The Evening Standard reported that the relationship between Rooney and Ferguson "broke down beyond repair."

Now what is the likelihood of him leaving? Well the way events have unfolded since the end of the World Cup up to now it seems like a real possibility. One that Manchester United fans should brace themselves for. If Rooney's relationship h

The Gunners fought back to turn round a 1-0 deficit and win 2-1 against a good Birmingham side. Nikola Zigic rose above all the Arsenal defenders to guide a goal into the far corner out of Fabianski's reach. Chamakh won a dubious penalty which Nasri converted very well near the end of the second half. Early on in the second half Chamakh danced his way through the defence to slot the ball into the back of the net and secure a 2-1 victory. Arsenal have now got themselves back on track after losing two games in a row and move up to second in the league ahead of both Manchester sides.

At the point the final whistle was blown at Old Trafford, boos echoed around the theatre of dreams. Upset fans made their feelings heard to the team and to the manager as they saw their team let a 2 goal lead slip, not for the first time either.

The number of chances the red devils spurned throughout the course of the game was terrifying; I really would be concerned if I supported them because of the lack of cutting edge and firepower. If this was the United side of a couple of seasons ago with Ronaldo in the team this game would have ended something like 4-0.

Firepower is an issue and mistakes are far too common this season especially in the defensive ranks which is rare for Manchester United. Fergie's men have become somewhat of the draw specialists with 5 draws in 8 games and even though United are notoriously slow starters, that kind of form is just inconceivable for a team of their quality.

The aging Van Der Saar will not have the best of nights after his
