Gates is no lock to play in Week 13

A report in the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Antonio Gates (foot) could be a game-time decision to face the Raiders.

Gates said the pain he is feeling due to the torn plantar fascia has “gotten better,” but he is still “undecided” about whether he can deal with it in another game.

“I don’t want it to be a lingering thing through the season,” Gates said. “I want to get it where I’m able to contribute (at a high level).”

The superstar tight end played just 35 snaps in last week’s win over the Colts, which is about half of the number of snaps he’d play at 100 percent. That alone makes him a risk for fantasy owners.

If he is able to participate in practice the rest of the week, Gates should be active in most leagues. However, any deviation in practice time that results in a game-time decision would make him hard to start.
