Faulk: Firing not based on Broncos’ effort

What’s behind the firing of coach Josh McDaniels in Denver?

The “NFL Total Access” crew — Marshall Faulk, Michael Lombardi, Charles Davis and Warren Sapp – believes there is more to the story than just what happened on the field.

“You have to think about the totality of everything that’s gone on under McDaniels in Denver,” Faulk said. “I believe that what happened in London, once that came out and how [McDaniels] handled it, Pat Bowlen was a little upset. The decision to fire McDaniels couldn’t have been based on the play of the team, because they play hard.”

Added Lombardi: “I believe Marshall is right. There’s more to this story than just the won-loss record. … With four games to go, why not let him finish the season and then make the decision?”
